How to cook basmati rice 1. Wash thoroughly and soak for about 30 minutes. 2. Bring 10 to 20 times the amount of water as rice to a boil and add the rice. 3. Stir occasionally to prevent burning, and when it is about to boil over, reduce the heat to medium and boil for about 10 to 15 minutes, then drain in a colander. 4. Cover and steam for about 5 minutes. *Adjust the boiling time to your desired firmness. It can also be cooked in a household rice cooker.
